Originally
built in 1885, as a public house, the Prince has been thoughtfully
extended over time. The last part of this work was completed in the
early 1980s.
The new
landlord Mr. Clifford Burchett, has been trying to acquire this
local hostelry since 1980. As a person who has lived in the village
and surrounding area for many years, Cliff is delighted to have
given the villagers their local back.
Somewhat of a
rescue mission was required, as the Prince had stood empty for 8
months, prior to Cliffs refurbishment of the bar and restaurant,
thus returning it to its former glory.
The Kitchen and
Food Preparation areas have also had a face lift, with modern
equipment to cater for the bar snack dining area and also the
restaurants A la Carte Menu with fish a speciality.
The bright yellow exterior
although not to everyone’s taste, was chosen to let the community
know that their local was open once more, and radical changes had
taken place.
The interior
has been refurbished with a view to retaining the traditional charm.
Light pastel colours complementing the beamed ceilings and exposed
brickwork. The open fire
remains a feature, within the bar dining area. There are numerous
historical photos depicting village life, adorning the walls.
The bar is well stocked with major brands, and has a changing
selection of real ales, brewed locally, in the village of Henham, by
Saffron Brewery.
The
restaurant
uses fresh local produce where ever possible, or personally selected
fayre from London’s world famous produce markets.
The A la carte restaurant is situated in the conservatory, thus
giving diners space away from the bar area.

Regular live
music is planned, to compliment the ambience and charm of the bar
and restaurant. A selection of artists, performing music from all
eras.
All of this
probably makes the Prince Of Wales , the best Bar & Restaurant in
the world, because it is operated, by a local for the locals, yet
still welcomes all visitors with its cheerful atmosphere.
Cliff & his team look forward to your visit.
